1989 DT115
Replaced the trottle valve sensor / throttle position sensor last year. Boat has maybe 15 hours use on it due to a tank failure. Replaced the tank and when I started the boat the first time in 5 months the motor will not idle down. Carb adjustments have not be touched. Ran fine before tank replacement. Idle adjustment knob on CDI has zero effect. No 15 second high idle then drop down. I have to remove the oil tank to confirm throttle sensor failure but I am pretty certain it is.
Question is why would it fail again in short order? Are these sensors just that problematic? Anything to check before risking another $180 sensor?
