Hey all,
I took my boat out for its maiden voyage and upon connecting the battery cables to the battery I noticed smoke coming from under the engine cover. I immediately disconnected the battery. I notice that I had put the wires on the battery backwards. The outcome was that the wires to the rectifier were burnt very badly so I removed it. The engine still runs great but i'm wondering if i'm going to cause any damage to the engine by running it without this converter?? Any advice would be appreciated. Is this part something that is universal or is this something that I have to find the exact OEM replacement for. I haven't had any luck tracking one down yet.
