  • New member with a question: Linking Lorance to DF 140

    Hi All! New member here.
I have a HDS 7 gen 3 Lowrance I just bought. Looking for help/information on installing the right cable from the Suzuki DF 140 to the NMEA starter backbone.
My DF 140 is 2011. I have the NMEA Starter backbone. Looking at a couple posts on the installation it seems the most issues are because of getting the wrong connection cable from the NMEA to the DF 140. Mine looks as if it needs the round connection? Any advise on which cable/cables to get from the NMEA to the DF 140 are welcome. Along with any installation advise.

    Thank you!

Have a read of that, if you still have questions come back and ask.

Anyone have advise of where or pictures showing where to connect the nmea 2000 harness plus inside my 2011 df 140 Suzuki motor?

      Thank you.

With due respect, if you actually had read the info paper linked to that thread, you would have read about two things:

        1. The interface cable has 2 white plugs to connect at the engine end, as you point out. One is a 4 pin plug and the other 2 pin. With a 2011 year motor, the 2 pin plug is not used - it is for trim data and is only used on early motors, pre-2008. Trim data comes thru the mian 4 pin plug on your engine. So tape up the 2 pin plug and forget about it.

You would also have read that you will need an adapter cable to connect the interface cable 4 pin plug to the engine's SDS plug. That is detailed in the info paper, too. Its called a SDS adapter cable.

        2. You connect the 4 pin plug from the interface cable to the adapter cable, then to the SDS plug on your engine - the same plug that the Mechanic connects their laptop to.

Take the cowl off. Its Located Port side, above the fuse box. It is held in a small black rubber holder usually. If you cant find it, take the cowl off and take some photos of the port side of your engine and post them here so we can point it out to you.

Here is a pic of the connection on my DF115. (2010 year). Very similar to the DF140.

The same photo is on page 11 of the information document on the sticky thread, and the "how to" details for Option 2, starts on page 6.

I'd suggest you have another read. Heres the direct link to the info paper:
