  • C10 Gauge problems

I have a new DF200 with a C10 gauge. The gauge was set up with a single engine and single gas tank. The C10 is connected to a Lawrence Elite 7 through the Nmea 2000 network.

    I have the following issues:

Fuel capacity was imputed as 75 gallons. When I fill the tank the resistance gauge reading shows 100

I cannot reset the fuel capacity gauge that is based on engine fuel flow. It will also not reset the gallons used from last fill up.

Boat speed is displaying at a higher speed than the Lawrence is showing. For example at 25 mph the C10 shows 53 mph.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would start by reading the 'sticky' that Moonlighter wrote about NEMA2000 systems
You may need to make sure the software versions of the various components are compatible, including the engine interface cable
Fuel capacity did you configure both units with the same parameters? Both need to be independantly configured The unit should then be able to read the restistance and display the correct reading
The fuel data fuel rate burn is supplied by the engines ECM your displays just reads the data output a few recalibrations will get the burn rate / gallons used for trip and season used pretty accurate
The Elite gets it speed readout via the GPS
Not sure where the speed source for the C10 comes from but from your comments I would suspect it is not configured correctly

Moonlighter is very good in the electronics area so I suspect he will make me look really bad when he sees this (LOL)

So you are saying that when the network was set up, tank capacity was set at 75 gallons?

And by resistance gauge do you mean you also have a standard analogue fuel gauge with a tank sender and it reads full?

Please confirm or correct these statements as fact or not. That will help us diagnose what's going on.

Now, when you've used some fuel, does the C10 and Lowrance both show how much fuel has been used? And do they show the same amount?

      They should.

Now, when you refill the tank, with the engine key turned on, (where the engine beeps) and go into the C10 menu and find the fuel menu, and select refuel. Follow the procedure as per the manual. It should now reset the fuel used amount to zero. Try that and let me know what happens. But important - the engine key must be on when you do this!!!

Regarding the speed difference, it's possible that the data source for speed on the C10 has been set to the motors pitot speed. Pitot speed is notoriously inaccurate. So check that and reset it to use GPS speed. Setting data sources is easy, check the C10 manual I find unsure how.
