  • Help! Engine won't switch off :-(

Hi new member in need of some help.
    DT50 Engine no 5001 204 647. I was told it was 1982 ?

Engine will not turn off and the kill switch doesn't kill the engine either
I have fitted a new ignition switch with the hope that that would cure it but still no joy

Am I right in thinking that the green is the switched live back to the engine ?
As the black seems to go to earth as these are the two colours that are on the kill switch

Another question is the black on the ignition switch eventually goes to ground in the engine do I need to ground it out earlier ? As per a wiring diagram I have seen , although it isn't really for my model.

Would anyone have a diagram for this model?
    Thanks in advance

You need to clean all the ground wire connections to the kill switch. It has to ground out the ignition at the engine to kill the motor. The key switch uses the same kill switch circuit ground to kill the motor, your grounds aren't making good connections.
I do not have a wiring diagram for your motor, the service manual for your motor has the diagram.

Good luck, post back when able to let us know how it's going.
