Hey guys I have bought a 2007 counter rotating lower unit that has a 30" shaft . I need to change out to 25" . We looked up shaft p/n and from 04 to 10 they all have the same part number. So we ordered shaft , the pinion gear will not slide on the new 25" shaft ..
I do not have serial number of the used unit I bought unfortunately, wondering if I have to buy all new gears as well to accommodate new shaft . The 30 "shaft is quite a bit narrower than the new 25" . The 25" is significantly beefer. Wonder if there was a change out somewhere along the line or is the long shaft lower unit a completely different unit , only difference we can see is the Inner Diameter of the pinion gear is different which allows it to not slide on shaft and be tightened up by pinion nut ???
Any ideas or help , Capt Michael
