Does DT65 gearbox fit dt50?

Hi everyone,

I have a 1984 suzuki short shaft DT50 outboard, and I would like to know if the DT65 gearboxes fit the DT50?

I am looking for a new box but DT50s seem hard to find- but I have found a DT65 box for a good price, hence the question. Only trouble is the box is interstate, so I cannot directly compare etc.

Any help would be much appreciated!

You can look up your year gear case part# online, then click on that part name in the parts list, and it will list all the different motors that gear case was used on. You can do the same with that dt65 gear case, if you know the year of it for certain.

However, if you find a gear case that fits your motor, all of the internal parts could also be different than your motor? So you might have to put all of your parts inside the case for it to be the same as yours (gear ratio, drive shaft size, prop shaft size, etc...), unless you check each part number of every part, any number of parts could fit the same case, but for different size motors.
