  • Df90 noise from driveshaft

Have a slight rumble sound think from driveshaft. Would appreciate any views or experience. Have been informed about a bush under the water pump that could cause this and is OK to have a bit of play.

What year is your motor? How many hours on it?

In my experience, there is not exceptable play in any bearing, or bushing where a grumbling noise is ever a good sound. Usually a grumbling sound is the sound bearings/ bushings make just before going to pieces.

It is best to have a qualified knowledgeable person listen to it. Many noises on outboards can radiate from the powerhead down to the lower unit.

    Good luck.

Engine is a 2010 with 1200 hours on it. Service every 250 hours. Thanks for the reply

I think i know of the bush you are talking about. Mine was making a noise at idle after it warmed up, was not a grumbling noise though. Apparently a common problem and a bit of a design fault. I just threw some rubber grease on and all good. Do that once a year when i service it. Worth a try to see if noise goes. Good luck

Every 100 hrs is the normal service interval.

Not sure where you got the 250hrs

25 inch shaft, think the bush is the first place to look thanks. Bit of mix up on service intervals on my behalf gets book in for full service when buzzer goes so guessing about another 50 hrs as sometimes 3 to 4 weeks for a fitter. Interim service done by my self around the 100 mark, as being used commercially awkward the fit in at times. Thank for the replys.
