    I have a problem whit my DF300 2008 model;

We was on a small trip, I slowed down to fix a rope in the boat. When i got back the engine had stopped and wouldn't start.

I empty the water separation filter and pumped the bulb but still the same.

    - I checked the white power supply for the ECU.
    - Change all fuel filters, also high pressure fuel filter
    - Cleaned fuel system and fuel injectors
    - Changed to new and clean fuel tank
    - Changed MAP sensor
    - Checked temperature sensors
    - Changed all sparks

Spark is ok, when i pull out the sparks they are wet. Throttle body respond to throttle.

I tried to fire it up without the inlet cover, then it fired up at once -

It seems like the engine dont get any air - do anyone have suggestions where to look?

    - Kjetil -

First thing I would look at is to remove the cowling, and look inside. I believe you'll find a shroud of sorts inside, that is attached to the cowling by screws of a sort. Remove the shroud to check for a bird's nest, wasp nest, or some other obstruction. I've had birds build a nest inside the cowling of my DF150. Now I keep a cover on the motor to keep the birds out.

Thanks for your effort, but this is not the issue here. I have open to the intake manefoil and clean up.

Well, getting your nomenclature correct would help. What is the "inlet cover" that you removed from the engine that allowed it to "fire up at once"? And what is wrong now with the intake manifold (I assume that's what you're referring to) if the motor fired up and ran with the manifold on the motor, and the inlet cover removal was all that was done to make it start and run?

The "inlet cover" i mean 13140-98J01 COVER,COLLECTOR (item5) 2008 DF300 Suzuki Marine Outboard THROTTLE BODY Diagram and Parts

When the cover collector is removed, the motor starts.

Did you happen to remove any wires or unplug any to get the cover off.?

No, the engine stopped middle of a trip.

I think i need to trubbleshoot on the trottle body, i am not sure how mutch the trottle body is supposed to open before the engine start. Now it is almost closed when i crank the motor.

I delivered it to a work shop now and they are looking into it.

'''''' sounds like a throttle body problem, did you move the shifter towards wide open throttle with the key on to see if it moved, no codes, it may have blown a fuse on the throttle relay if it did not open. On a normal start the bcm will open the throttle around 18%.

The throttle body seems that its working, but if it adjust correct is a question...

When i adjust the shifter in neutral position the throttle body adjust ok, when i turn the key to off position the throttle body calibrate normal (Adjust wide open - and then close) there is no codes...

Ok guys. now the engine is running again.

but it was an expencive repair that were needed

one of the valves spring was broken so the valve did not return to closed position, then the piston hit the valve. the shims went in to the register but luckely the shims did no damage. so the mechanic went over all valves chranckshaft etc, we discovered another spring that was broken but luckly in a way that did not cause further damage.

now the boat are back in the water, running like new
