  • Warning Horn

I have a new DF20ATL, ran it on muffs on test stand all OK. Now installed on boat and on muffs I get a steady beep-beep after aronnd 45 seconds of idling. Motor peeing good. If I idle up to 1,400 RPM it stops beeping. I'm thinking it could be a water flow problem at low RPM ? Boat never in water. Total run time around 15 min.. Thanks for any ideas.

First question someone did tell/give you instruction for breaking in a new engine?
In many cases your hose may not provide enough water to keep engine cool
Be very careful on RPM's Carefully follow break-in instructions!!!

All the engine alarms that I am aware of are in a series of beeps
    I.e. the cylinder temp sensor is a 1 - 4 sequence
The only one I see is a 'low voltage' signal
If the battery voltage is under 9 volts for 30 seconds
You get check engine lamp and a series of 1.5 second beeps
I can only guess you need to charge your battery

Thanks, it may have been a low water pressure problem, the muffs I used I've had for 31 years and are a bit stiff and mostly used on my 115 merc. Today I sea tested the boat and no beep at all! I am carefully following the break in procedure, but you know it's hard not to try full throttle, but I can wait.
