  • 03 DF115 Tilt Stop

Motor can be tilted up to the point of hitting on front of splash well. Searched and searched for a stop switch and can't find one or the adjustment tab discussed in some of the threads in this forum. No idea if someone removed it or the engine ever had one....help....

There is a procedure for doing it. Its got to do with the computer. It tells you in the owners manual under Tilt Limits. My book is in the boat or I would look it up for you.

***- didn't think of it being computer controlled. I have a service manual and owners manual, both explain setting the switch cam. I'll do some digging to see if I can find the procedure...many thanks.

Sweet - Found a link posted by Moonlighter about a year ago. Explains how to set the limit on the 70, 80 & 90 HP models. Looks like it's worth a try.

On the 03 models it will be manually set using the cam. Not using the computer.

I guess that loops me back to someone having removed the whole assy.... Interesting as I can't even see where the switch & cam would mount on mine.

Your not looking hard enough, look where the motor pivots you will see the two blue wires that go to the switch and cam, it must be hooked up otherwise your motor would not trim up, unless some one has joined the wires but that would be pointless.

Many thanks. Better to know it never existed that to worry about what may have been removed or altered.

Maybe you could get one from a 2004 and wire it in or a Micro switch

Good suggestion. Been having similar thoughts. Need to look into it a bit but I suspect the pivot assy/bracket may also be different. On the 03 it continuous across the front. Not sure but I think I'll need access to the pivot tube to use an OEM assy. Was just looking at it this evening trying to figure out how I could rig something...then wonder if it's worth the effort since I know it can be raised far enough to hit, maybe the best option is just don't do that. )
