  • C10 Gauge Fuel data issue

I've got a new boat with twin DF300 engines and 2 tanks. It also has 2 C10 gauges. When the boat was delivered, it showed what appeared to be accurate ongoing fuel consumption while operating the boat but only showed fuel in one tank. I added fuel to both tanks and entered the amounts in the C10 gauges and it caused the one tank that showed fuel to increase how much it showed (but it did not increase enough to accurately reflect the amount of fuel put in the boat).

Trying to figure this out I obtained and read the manual and tried making changes to the setup. I believe I correctly have the gauges setup to show 1 port engine and tank and 1 starboard engine and tank. I also created a new page that would show the amount of fuel in each tank using the fluid level sensors that were installed in each tank (and present on the C10 gauges on the network).

Thought I had everything figured out. Apparently not as my fooling with the setup resulted in the engines no longer sending the fuel data (gph) while running. Put the boat in the water and filled the tanks at the marina. Marked both tanks full. Turned motors back on. Still no data from the engines regarding fuel flow and the tank gauges on the standard C-10 screens showed no fuel. Thought that at least I had the fluid level sensors working as they both showed 100% (up from 10% and 2% which was not accurate). Ran the boat around for about an hour and the port fluid level reading never dropped below 100%. The starboard fluid level sensor dropped to 70-77% depending on boat position, wake, etc. But each tank has 130 gallon capacity and was full. No way I ran through that much fuel in that short amount of time. And I was running both motors and fuel tanks.

Anyone have any idea or can point me in the right direction? I would really appreciate any help.

Moonlighter is the expert at this
But did you go back through your chartplotter and review network settings and make sure the engines and fuel tank settings were still correct?

I think you should go back to your dealer and ask them to start over and reconfigure the whole system so it works properly.

If I was there I would do that- a complete fresh start, factory reset, redo the boat setup, redo the engine names and tank configuration, capacities and so on. Then test and confirm its all good.

It can be very confusing to try to figure out what changes someone has made under circumstances like this, and to try to diagnose what's gone wrong without being there in person to get into the settings and look around is very hard - almost impossible.

Look at it this way - you've just spent a considerable sum on this whole setup and to get it going properly a trip to the dealer is time well spent. That's my recommendation.
