I have a 1986 DT 65 on an 1987 Invader 17" Deep-V and it runs in fresh water, I would like to know what type, size and pitch prop I should use to get the correct RPMs at WOT. It has a BF100 9.9 Honda that I use for trolling. I would like to have a good all around prop. Just hoping for some guidance

But what rpms do you get with normal load now? Do you have a tach?

Have you read the 3rd message (sticky) on motor height and prop selection?
Yes you should try trimming your motor. If your boats bow is plowing into the water it will slow your boat down.
If your cavitation plate (flat fin plate just above prop) is not skimming the surface of the water just before reaching full wot, then your motor may be too low.

Thank you that is a great read and now I know what I need to do when I get the boat in the water next time! I am Farley sure the outboard is at the correct high as the anti cavitation plat is level with the bottom of the boat. But I will check to make sure once its in the water. I see how to raise the outboard, not fun but I have two holes that I can go up if I need to Also would you go with a Stainless steel prop?Last edited by jkovacev; 09-29-2016, 02:09 PM.

A stainless prop will almost always perform better than an alloy one - but - they cost a lot more, and dont bend as easily if you hit something.
So it kind of depends on your use....
Most poeple who are fishing rivers and other shallows where there are rocks and logs to hit tend to use alloy on the basis that its better to bend a prop than break a gerabox or bend a prop shaft. Plus the ally ones are cheaper to replace if totally destroyed!
Most offshore guys use stainless because they hang on better in diffiuclt sea conditions and give better overall performance. Many more choices of sizes and blade shape are available in stianless from different mnaufacturers that allow you to really dial-in the performance characteristics you are looking for.
So its really up to you to decide.
