    Hi i would like to confirm the following. When mooring the boat for a period of time the Factory owners manual states the following. tilt the motor up, engage the tilt lock and lower the motor down until it is supported bu then tilt lever. then continue to press down the PTT switch until the trim rams are fully retracted, This will prevent corrosion. I was talking to a mechanic (not going into detail but this raised a concern) and told me not to do that i.e retract the trim rams because you will break the tilt lever and the tubing.The tilt lever should be used only when working on the motor. I believe that he is incorrect because the power trim and tilt has valve to relief the pressure (other outboards i had when it stops on the bracket it sort of changes tone hums and never has a problem). apart from the fact that if this causes damage it wont be stated in the factory owners manual. Furthermore it will relief the pump when not in use. Further more looking at other owners manual ex yamaha it states the same procedure.Is it safe for this model to lock the motor on the tilt lever when mooring and keeping lowering the trim rams to avoid corrosion since now i am a bit confused and the engine is still new.

    I have the same issue with my (new to me) 2014 Suzuki 150TX. When I set the tilt lock and continued to trim down it was obvious no pressure relief was active because of the force being exerted to the tilt lock & transom.
    Any answers, other than engage the tilt lock and tilt down just enough to take some pressure off the hydraulics?
    I plan on not retracting the ramrod while on my slip.

      Hi I have decided not to trim the rams back. just use the tilt bracket and stop when it engage. a yamaha mechanic was also of the same idea.not to trim the rams down. just ensure they are clean and can coat them lightly with vaseline. to protect. Thanks for sharing
