BYW what did you do to address the damage/pitting on the tilt rod itself? New shaft? Polished out?

I polished it up as best I could with some 600 wet-or-dry and ATF. The rod appeared to be plated, I always assumed they were just stainless steel rods. Seems as if some of the plating was peeled away in that one spot. Obviously will affect the seal longevity, so if it needs it again, the rod should be replaced. Tilt rod not sold separately, so at that point probably will probably need to remove the PTT assembly and have it rebuilt and rod replaced. The two rams only had minor pitting and polished up nicely.
