I don’t drain, use stabilizer and run the boat for 15 minutes on the lake to ensure the stabilizer is well distributed. When I purchased the boat used that sat for 3 years the previous owner ensured me it had fuel stabilizer in it. The fuel in the tank was the colour of an american lager while the fuel in the VST was like a dark almost black stout(Guinness) . Another point to consider, upon start up the high pressure fuel pump will be empty and you will be running it dry until the VST fills up enough to get fuel to the high pressure pump. I don’t know if running the pump dry for a short period of time will hurt it that much but over time...

I don't drain it for the winter, I do drain it 3-4 times a year I open the screw & let it drain then squeeze the primer bulb till fuel is running again.(in my mind flushing any crap out). Draining it for the winter won't hurt any thing.
