I am replacing my Suzuki 2004 DF90 (on a 1750 Crestliner Fishhawk SC) with a 2020 Suzuki DF90ATH (on an Alumicraft Comp 175 Tiller).
I have been very pleased with the 2004 DF90 and have had excellent reliability with this motor which ultimately lead me to purchase a new DF90 on my new rig. My only complaint with the 2004 DF90 was that it was difficult to troll down to speeds less than 2.5 mph and this will be solved with the Pro Tiller control on the new motor.
One thing that caught my attention looking at the new motor specs vs the old was displacement reduction (and weight reduction). The 2004 had 1950 cc displacement and had a lot of capability beyond it's rated HP (sharing the same engine block with the 115 and 140 HP models). The 2020 DF90 has 1502 cc's and shares the same engine block as the DF70. There is a substantial weight reduction on the new motor.
Can any DF90 owners (new vs old) comment on what I might expect on performance new vs old motor (torque and hole shot)?
