  • Suzuki DF200 no fuel to carbs

Ok, so I have a 1996 Hydrasports 21' Ocean Skiff with a Suzuki DF200. The fuel isn't moving along. Pump the ball like crazy but no fuel to the bowl inside. After pumping I disconnected the line to the bowl and it came off with a little pressure pop. Then I disconnected the motor side and same thing, so each side was under pressure from pumping the ball. Put them back on and nothing from the ball again. All of this is after the water separator

Just had the tank flushed and cleaned out about 4 months ago but just getting the chance to start it up. I know, probably not a good thing but here I am.
    Any advice??

You say the boat is a '96. Does that year also apply to the 200? If it's a DF200, it's injected, and 2004 or newer. So are we referring to a DT200? Any work on the system other than the tank cleaning? I'm assuming you didn't do the tank cleaning yourself, so do you know if they removed any fuel lines and/or the primer bulb? Are you sure the "pop" is a pressure pop and not vacuum?

If you had the tank cleaned, and if it is a df200 with injection, then you may need to clean the VST and other filters, also flush injector rail. It sounds like you had some trash, or bad fuel in system, and it may have clogged up these other areas if getting back pressure and no fuel.

      Good luck.

Sorry, trying to figure this forum thing out. Pretty sure it is a DF200 from 2004 could be a DT but it's storming out there right now, gotta wait. They don't seem to have moved much But, at the water separator there are 2 new 1/2" screw clamps on the intake of the separator. Separator looks nice and new. Same old ball and lines. Bowel inside the motor shows about 1/4 full. Ball doesn't prime it.
Seems like a pop, but could be a vacuum.

Well, I'm not sure which motor you have yet, but I think I follow your explanations. Maybe try eliminating the possibility of any blockages in the fuel line by removing the line as close to the motor as you can, stick the hose in a jar, and see if squeezing the primer bulb actually pumps fuel. At least that will help you determine that the fuel line from the tank to the motor is unobstructed. If no fuel is being pumped, we have an idea about where to start looking.

            DF is a 4 stroke

            DT is a 2 stroke.

            Which one do you have?

If you had reason to clean the tank you had good reason to renew all fuel lines to the motor and all filters as well as cleaning the VST - it seems you have not done that - but lecturing won't help so ignore that comment. Harper and Solarman have offered good advice but I'll add some thoughts whilst assuming you DO NOT have a blockage from trash or deteriorated fuel lines and that there actually is fuel in the tank.

Have you actually tried to start the motor? With the on-board fuel filter 1/4 full and fuel in the VST a DF motor is very likely to start and then will pull fuel from the tank. There seems to be no reason to suspect that your VST is empty.

Seems you have a new water separating filter - does it actually have fuel in it or are you trying to pull fuel from the tank and into the filter? Or don't you know? If so, remove the filter, fill it as best you can with fuel and reinstall it - then try again with the bulb. Also, if you can, place the bulb in a vertical position with the arrow facing up as you squeeze it - this should assure the bulb seal functions. Before you do any of this, be sure that all fittings are tight, especially the new fuel separating filter and that there are no cracks in the fuel lines or priming bulb - you may be sucking air. By the way, because the fuel line and bulb have not been replaced I assume the bulb is pointing in the right direction (toward the engine) - but you know what all this assuming could mean. As a last ditch effort, pull the fuel line at the water separating filter - the section that leads to the tank - then, god help you, see if you can suck some fuel from the tank. Use a manual pump is you have one.

Beyond that I am at a loss and I have been thinking about this since first reading your post yesterday - go figger!
