  • Hello first timer here

Ok so I'm a long time tht member and a first time Suzuki owner. Just powered my boat with a 16 df300apx love it so far. But now I'm kinda worried I just read a whole bunch on them having cracked heads. Is this true? Or an isolated prob that the op just wanted to blow out of proportion. Thanks guys looking foward to many years of service out of my Suzuki.

I saw that post on THT. Im also a member there.

That guy is a nutter!! One post says he worked for Suzuki and saw dozens of examples, yet he still went ahead and bought two Suzuki motors. Why would you do that if, as an insider, you knew they were all lemons?

I am also good friends with my local Suzuki dealer, known him for years. Bought other motors from him before he became a solely Suzuki dealer.

He supplies many many DF200-300hp motors to local Volunteer Marine Rescue groups, Police and Harbours and Marine Department. They all work them hard but service them religiously. They trade them after every 2 years/3000 hrs and the used motors are snapped up by his recreational fishing clients who get many more years great service out of them. He rarely has an issues at all with them.

One of the most commonly reported issues you see reported with our Suzukis is IAC valve failures. I was chatting to my Suzuki mate this morning about this, and he said yes, you do see them, but in his words "A handful of motors in every thousand" have problems with them. Kinda puts it in perspective, hey?!

So, it is a load of BS! If it was anything other than BS you would see dozens and dozens of threads started on ThT about the same thing. You would also see dozens of similar threads here on this forum - but guess what - you don't!

    Simply because it is untrue.

A couple of years ago a similar story surfaced and several THT vendors who are Suzuki dealers came on and totally debunked the whole thing.

Like all engines, there can be a very very small percentage that have problems. Suzuki is no different. They have upset some dealers because they have come in and undercut them on price with a product that is every bit as good if not better than the competition.

They are all made in Japan, and we all know about the Japanese and their focus on quality and reliability.

So relax, in every crowd, 2-5% are total nutters. Go fishing and enjoy your new engine.

There are more nutters on THT than you can shake a stick at!! I don't bother with the site anymore.

The Hull Truth...should be "The Hull Opinion," or maybe "Up Your Stern"
