A VF150 Tops out at 59 mph @ 6100 RPM

There are multiple guys in my fishing club with those motors on the same boat that I have. They are seeing 63-64mph with a 150hp and 67-68 with a 175

So your Fishing Club Buddies, might be talking about the Freeway heading to the Ramp behind the truck.

A VF 175 is actually the same motor as a VF150 so I highly doubt 4 mph more. (I stand corrected)

Investigating more from another site.

For MY16 the ZX190 is priced with the VF150 and its approximately $250 more to opt for the VF175. The difference in these two motors is the VF150 has a quicker holeshot compared to the VF175 while the VF175 has a little higher top end speed compared to the VF150. See numbers below:

VF175: top end speed: 61-62mph
rpm: 6000
time to plane: 8-10 sec

VF150:

top end speed: 57mph

rpm: 6000

time to plane: 6-8 sec

Testing is with two people, 1/2 fuel, 100lbs gear, 3batts, trolling motor, and includes anything else std on boat

Try "Ken" at "The Prop Gods" for tweaking with cupping, but I also would start with a 16", extra Cupping for Higher Mounting.
