trim tilt shriek

new (to me ) boat with DF40.

test run at local lake - all ran well, apart from when adjusting trim, loud shriek noise and slower movement when trimming prop away from transom. when trimming prop towards transom fine. also the faster tilt is fine. if you have engine fully down it shrieks until exactly unit reaches the faster tilt portion of travel.

any thoughts?

has the pivot been greased might be a bit tight

spray some silicone

I have also sprayed silicone on the piston rods (?) and that helped the travel.

i have greased the pivot. the chrome ram when extended, has a coating of an emulsion... i guess i need to drain and refill with new fluid..

do i use normal car ATF?

You can use Dexron III ATF for trim system

I had a similar noise, replaced the seals and it fixed the problem

how easy is it to change seals?

I now have a workshop manual, but id shows a different t&t . mine is a showa. where can i find more info on it/ and spares Nw england Manchester

I now have the showa unit off the boat. and want to pull it apart to inspect and clean it. has anyone got experience of this?
