G'day again from downunder!!Well the impellor wasn't my problem, seems it was the thermostat!I removed said thermostat to discover it clugged with gunk.Cleaned it and tested it,first few times it didn't open.Cracked it open myself with some long nose pliers, then tested it again in boiling water.Opening and closing seemingly normally, however I don't think I should use it again anyway, the cost for a replacement in AUS at the moment is $110.00.And that is even with the parity of the dollar with yours!!I have seen them advertised over there for $33.00.But the time it takes to get over here means no boating for a couple of weeks. So here is a question for you, finally!!Has anyone,or does anyone know of people running their motors without the thermostat in?I live in Far North Queensland, which is very tropical and very warm. Our ocean temps at this time of year reach around the 27 to 30 degree celsius mark.Which is around the late 80's early 90's farenhieght I believe.Any info on this would be great, thanks for your help, regards Dave.

Dave, my thought is that the thermostat is there to keep the engine at a certain running temp.
If your problem was overheating, than running without a T-stat (if that was the only problem) would take care of that.
If it were me and I wanted to go boating, I'd run without the T-stat till I got the new one. The only thing I would think it would do is just not give you as clean a burn in combustion and I don't see that being all that big of a deal for a week or two.
Just my thoughts,
Joe C
