I have a DF200 with 350 hours. It had its annual service last week, and its first trip out since the service this Monday. After 14 miles, we noticed a smell of burning oil, some smoke from the exhaust and signs of oil in the sea. We limped home, keeping the revs low (2,000) and as we arrived in the harbour, the oil warning light came on and the engine stalled. We arranged a tow in and found emulsified oil all over the engine.
On checking the dipstick, it was full of water. We drained the oil and found the first few litres was water and then emulsified oil. Refilled and started the engine for a short time. and the following day did the same.
I have now taken the boat out of the water and will remove the engine tomorrow. Has anyone experienced this? any clues as to what may have caused this?
