  • DF25RL Starter

Good Morning All, While in Canada this past few weeks the remote starter on my 2011 DF25RL stopped working. Pull start works fine. Can someone give me an idea of what the problem might be, and the parts that might need to be replaced. The unit looks like a typical starter on any small engine with a solenoid on the side. But when I look at various online parts I can find no solenoid. I appreciate any help.
    Regards
    Craig

give us a few more details on what exactly is happening when you turn the key.
almost sounds like you don't have power to the ignition key
but more details will be helpful

      Starting.

Mine is similar it will crank but only run for 3 secs. No alarm at remote. My neutral safety and dead man switch is good. Also my electric choke won't click

For the last few times the starter did work it sounded weaker and weaker and then there was nothing. When the ignition key is turned there is no click or anything which usually indicates a bad solenoid. There is good power to the post on the starting unit. One issue I have is that the boat/motor is at my property in Canada and I am in Pennsylvania. When I return next week I would like to be able to preform a fix. Yesterday I ordered a solenoid/relay for $29 and hope that is the problem. I have been told to place a jumper from the battery directly to the starter to see if the starter engages. The motor starts easily and runs very well with the pull start but necessitates removal of the cover and intake shroud every start. Any other recommendations are greatly appreciated, including suggestions of other parts in the unit that might go south and could be replaced. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
