  • Dt115 lower unit clicking

Working on a dt115 suzuki that has no power in forward. I did a lil checking and if in forward the prop clicks while its rotating. It makes no noise in reverse or neutral. In reverse the prop locks up both ways and you can turn motor with it. neutral spins free both ways but forward locks up counterclockwise but clicks when you turn it clockwise. I have torn lower down after checking all linkages and they are working correctly. it works same with linkage off and work it through the gears. I can find not excessive wear on anything and no metal shavings.only the shift dog might show some wear but dont have a new one to compare it to. So if anyone has an idea I coud please use some help....

Well my '99, dt140's (both) have always ratcheted one way and locked up in the selected-shift direction, and they both make the clicking sound when racheting. Neutral spins freely, no racheting.

I do know if the shift rod is not adjusted properly, it will have problems shifting in/out of one gear, for me it was the reverse gear. After adjustment everything was fine.

It also helps when posting, to give us the year of your motor, it does help when identifying problems, as-sociated with age of motor, and implemented features w/up-grades.

    Good luck.

X2 for my 2015 DF25A. I routinely trailer it with the throttle in full-forward position - just to get the handle out of the wind & snags - and the prop ratchets/clicks in one direction.

Sorry guys this is a 1988 model.I dont think its a linkage problem it works the same with linkage unhooked and do it by hand.It also clicks when the motor is running in forward gear on hose pipe. It dont in reverse or neutral
