  • 2014 Suzuki DF140 No White Wire and ...

So... I have removed a 2006 DF140 and installed a 2014 DF140 using the same harness and controls on my 1975 20' Mako. I hooked everything up and started searching for the connector for the white wire from the battery (usually by the main harness plug at the front of the engine) and was at a loss as there seemed to be none. I looked up the harness diagram on Browns Point Marine and the 2014 image doesn't show the connector. After failing to locate it I went ahead and turned on the battery switch and tried the motor. It turned right over and fired and the trim switch on the controls worked. I was still concerned that I may do some damage to the ECU without the WW hooked up. I made a call to a Suzuki shop (the nearest one is an hour and a half away) and they said keep looking for it. I asked if its possible that my model doesn't have it and they said no, that they all have the WW. I informed them that the motor turned over (it fired off) and that the trim is working. They told me to hold on and after a few minutes said some don't have the WW. I found this a bit confusing. They said don't worry about it if its working. When I tested the switch and the engine fired I didn't attempt to start it as I was just seeing if I had power so I switched it off immediately. I didn't have a fuel line hooked up yet and no water to the engine. Today, with fresh batteries and fresh fuel I attempted to start and everything appears to working but the motor is not starting. The motor is turning over and gauge runs self test, shows hours etc. but wont fire. All fuses and relays look good. The motor is a warrantied Suzuki rebuild that was run tested in a shop and has been on a stand for almost a year. I was surprised it fired momentarily the moment I turned the key to see if it had power but now with fuel supply it wont run. I'm going to drain the fuel out of the HP pump and turn it over without any fuel supply and try again. Any thoughts regarding WW mystery and things to look for when trying to start after being on a stand for so long? Thanks!
