I just got a new DF150. I also got a SMIS and the interface cable. I setup my Nmea and plugged the cable in to a connector that is above the fuse box, but the gauge isn't showing the motor. The instructions were useless for finding the location. I read on the net that the connector was just above the fuse box, which is the one I tried. There is another plug with a rubber cap near the fuse box, but it is female like the interface cable. My cable is version 3.5 and the gauge is 2.5 or 2.6.

The plug with the rubber cap is the one that is used. That plug is called the SDS connector - it is the same plug that the technician connects to their laptop to check it out using the Suzuki Diagnostic System.
Yes, it is the same s e x as the interface cable, which is why you need to use the adapter cable - called the SDS adapter cable - to connect to it. But you only use this engine bay connector if you also want to have normal analogue gauges in addition to the NMEA2000 connection.
The best option of course, if you are not using any analogue gauges, just the SMIS displays or similar, is to connect the interface to the engine harness up behind the dash. Then you simply connect the SDS plug to the main engine harness connector, this sends NMEA2000 data thru the harness to the dash.
