06’ df 150 corrosion question

Hey guys, new to the forum.

Just bought a 96’ Sea Ray Laguna, came with the df 150. Runs smoothly and is very quiet. I was reading about the corrosion problems. Seem to mainly be with the 140 series but I had to have a look at this one. Think there is any concern with this? Seems to be the only bit of corrosion on the engine.

The engine holder corrosion issue you mentioned is specific to the early pre-2008 90-140 series that shard the same block.

That corrosion in your photo doesnt look great. If it was mine I would replace that plate, maybe pick up a part from a wrecker.

Then I would clean the whole motor with something like saltaway, allow it to dry, then spray all over with lanolin spray - it repels water and also prevents corrosion. I do my 115 every couple of years.

The motor seems to be recently done with some sort of preservative. Other then that plug it seems in very good condition. I will order another cover and gasket.
