Hi guys, a couple of questions if I may, I've been given a dt 3.5 which I've been told was a runner, firstly, the model /year..serial number says 0351 741991, secondly, I've got a mile of spark, i can get a couple of coughs out of it but nothing more... any clues? Regs, steve

Art seems to be right on with the year.
I'm guessing it has been sitting up (not running) for some time.
First thing I'd do, dissas-semble (noting all locations, settings/ adjustments - jets/ needle valve, float setting), then clean the carb thoroughly, blowing all pas-sages with compressed air after soaking well. Then carefully putting everything back together (just as it was when taken apart, all settings adjustments back where they were). You may want to take a few pics before, and as you proceed, to make sure you get everything is back the way it was when you started.
Making sure the rest of fuel system (tank, filters, lines), are all clean.
Then place lower unit in barrel/bucket deep enough to submerge/ cover water pump completely. Then try to start.
If you have a manual, read up about the carb & settings.
