  • 9.9 4 cycle prop shaft

I have a bent prop shaft.
Is there any information on how to change the shaft available without purchasing expensive manuals?
Has anyone had any luck straightening the bent shafts?

here is my .02 cents worth
$90 for a manual $700- or more to a mechanic
if you are a "really" good backyard mechanic.. you might be able to pull it apart and replace the bent shaft.. without a manual

If you can find a machine shop you can inquire if can try to straighten the shaft but more than likely they won't be able to.. it's worth a try.. but this could very well cost you about as much as a new one..
    good luck..

      Manuals

Is there a good manual that actually shows or explains how to replace the prop shaft?
So many I have purchased end up being used at camp in the port a pottie.

the full service manual gives step by step directions on almost every aspect to your specific engine.. this is not a Seloc manual which is fairly limited
it also gives you a lot of other important information

try searching the internet for the manual
however, if you plan on keeping this engine go to Brownspoint and just buy it..

          Bent Prop shaft on 9.9

Followed instructions as to how to disassemble shaft.
put it into my lathe and found high spot, used port a power on bed and straightener shaft so it was within .0005 run out.
Reinstalled shaft and all is well.
Once I had the manual to follow it really was very simple task.

          thanks for help.
