  • 90hp Suzuki , no power, won't crank or tilt

I have a 2010 90hp Suzuki four stroke. Last season I put it in storage(disconnected battery, drained gas, etc.) and this season it won't crank over , no tilt. When I turn the key to on there is no noise, beep whatsoever and It has power to the tilt, but tilt doesn't work. Could it be the ECU? . Battery is fully charged, fuses all good. What could be the problem, any ideas?
    Thanks in advance..

when you say you have power to the tilt but tilt doesn't work
is it the tilt on the remote that is not working and the tilt and the port side of the engine that is working?

are there any of the other electronics not powering up ?

        White wire problem..
no power form you battery switch to the dash..
trace the power lead off the battery switch to the dash
from the battery switch.. there should be a relatively short pig tail that through a connector ..connects to a white wire.. that should be the power source to the dash.. then the ingition/remote..
check that first connection off the battery.. may look good on outside but could be fully corroded out on the inside (the problem I had!!)
I Would cut out and spice in a new water tight connector..
this white wire also has an inline fuse that needs to be checked
after all that.. check where the main power terminates at the dash.
        advise what you find

It's not hooked into the dash, just into the remote control. When I turn the key on ,there's nothing, no beep, none of the tilt buttons work. There seems to be power at the tilt button on the side of the engine, I push the button, but nothing, I even tried bypassing the switch and still nothing. There's power at the starter, which works when I use a remote starter switch, but won't work with the key. I tried a different remote controls, still nothing. The nearest dealer is seventy miles away.
I'll keep trying different things, it's gotta be something simple I hope.

The white wire to the remote
This wire through the ignition switch powers the ECM
No Power to ignition switch - nothing works
There is another power source to the T/T on side of engine

When asked if other electronics worked you said nothing is powering up
I asked that question for s reason If nothing is powering up the white wire also feeds the dash and anything that is connected there
Check the power as I outlined earlier

Found it. You were right, it was the white wire.
Thank you very much for your help. I was almost ready to buy a new outboard besides Suzuki..LOL
              Again thanks for your help

I keep track of these fixes
                And pleased you found problem

                  White wire (12VDC) problem

Did we ever hear where the bad wire problem was?
I have a Suzuki 40DF, and have the exact same problem -- No power to PTT at remote or to Ignition Switch. Tilt at the Motor works....30A fuse at motor is good. Disconnected connector feeding remote, and no VDC at White wire, and no connectivity to positive battery lead. What's the best connector to check on motor? Is there another one other than the big one to check? kind of hard to get to......as boat is in the water.
                  Thanks much

                    Did you read my "sticky"
The power comes from the battery to the ignition key and then to the ECM
Start with finding the white wire at the battery switch Maybe on a short pigtail

                      "white wire" problem

I do not have a battery switch, best I can tell the white wire (+12VDC) comes from the motor, with others to the ignition switch via connector below remote control. My question: is there another connector or fuse or ?? to help in further isolating the problem? when checking at the connector white wire(feeding the ign switch and PTT) below the remote control.....there is no power there. i'm thinking a connector at the motor would be the next isolation point....but not sure.

Yes the is an inline fuse on the white wire
There was one individual that had the white wire feeding from the hot side of the starter
It is not the best source of power because of voltage fluctuations when the engine starts The ECM is very sensitive to voltage changes
Can only suggest installing a battery switch
Will be better for your engine and electronics
