when is Suzuki going to fix the problem with plug in engine holder .this is a parts failure in design. unsafe to the unknowing.like buying a new car with exhaust piped into the passenger cab.this problem should be addressed as a safety recall by Suzuki.this was a lot of money for junk. I will never buy another Suzuki product until this problem is resolved by Suzuki.

Well, nice rant there. If somewhat uninformed. Feel better?
The issue with the engine holder corrosion around the plug on the port side on some early 115/140 series engines was indeed solved back in 2008 when Suzuki changed the design of the holder and eliminated that plug entirely. Been no systemic issues with newer models.
So there, you can now go out and buy another Suzuki product!
It doesnt even affect all engines in that series. Plenty are still running around without the issue having ever arisen.
It is however a well known issue - enough that anyone buying one of these older engines would quickly and easily discover it if they did just a small amount of research prior to purchasing.
Do some research here (use the advanced search feature) on this site and you'll quickly find how people have dealt with it. Many successes with simply getting the plug removed and a plate welded over the hole by a suitably qualified and experienced aluminium welder. Others have replaced the whole engine holder. Depends on how much you want to invest in a 12 year old outboard motor.
