  • Suzuki DT55 acoustic alarm codes

    Dear experts,

I bought a boat last week equipped with a DT55 from 1985. The motor can be started under cold conditions but do anybody know, how the acoustic signals are built?
Are there specific codes for a particular failure?

While turning the key to the ignition positions (starter is turning) the acoustic alarms starts to warn me for any reason.
I do not have the original Suzuki warning gauge (oil level, rpm limiter,..)
I must survive with only the alarm buzzer.
Which sensors are connected to the buzzer?

    Please help me!

Thanks in advance and greets from Germany

Marco, you should order a manual for that motor. The section on codes for your year motor will help you, and with wiring diagram it will be easier to make sure connections are good.

I am not sure, but in 1985, they only had the overheat alarm, and I'm not sure if they had oil injection back then? If you have an oil tank reservoir for 2 stroke oil under the hood, then you will have sensors for oil flow/level tired to the buzzer too.

But get your manual to be certain. All of us on this site are owners, a few mechanics, but very few have/had motors that old.

    Good luck.

Solarman is correct, a manual would be a good investment. I have an 85 and the alarm will beep when the oil level lowers to .5 liters. It will also beep when the motor is first started until the water pump fills the powerhead which takes a couple of seconds.

        Thanks a lot Guys.
        I will try it Soon.
This Type of Motor is still used Byte German Marine because of its reliability and robustness.
