1990 DT40. Hydraulic Steering

Hi All,

Has anyone switched to hydraulic steering on an old DT40? Looking at the main manufacturers (Seastar and Uflex), none of their systems appear to have been tested on this motor.

I don't want to spend $$$ for something that won't work with the motor.

To my understanding, hydraulic steering is usually made for larger horsepowered engines.(100 HP and larger) Probably why it hasn’t been tested on smaller engines.

Yes, it will work on the dt40. But for the cost, it is less $ to stick with the teleflex steering.

Thanks for the replies both. I'm having a lot of issues with steering cables, hence asking.
