  • 1989 DT200 neutral switch switch

Does anybody have a good diagram or picture of how the #7 and #8 fit together in diagram title Switch #65? Can't seem to make them fit as shown in #65.

The button of the switch only makes contact with the sloped tang of the bracket. They only make contact/touch when shifted. They do not fit together otherwise.

    Good luck.

I see the switch is mounted to a small bracket but how is the sloped bracket attached. A picture or diagram would be very helpful. Thanks

Is this switch a neutral safety switch or a disconnect for shifting gears?

A neutral safety switch. It should be mounted to make contact with the switch, when shifted into neutral. When shifted out of neutral, it should break contact, either forward or reverse.

In the earlier years, it prevented the motor from starting if not in neutral.

If you have the manual, it should show you pics of mounting and testing, also adjusting.

Good luck, post back when able.

My switch was broken in half so non functioning. Motor still cranked in neutral but not in gear. This switch must have some other function.
