I installed an AGM "Powersports" battery on my DF25AR motor a year ago when it was new. The battery has worked beautifully for 1.5 seasons now. I like it primarily because of its light weight in my 250 lb boat.
I was at a gathering of runabouts this past weekend. One of the guys there said that the charging voltage for AGM batteries is slightly different than for a standard "flooded lead cell" battery. He was concerned that the alternator in my motor may be charging the battery to the wrong voltage, and he suggested that some outboard engines are configurable for one type of battery vs the other, i.e. to adjust the charging voltage.
Anyone here heard of such a configuration option with Suzuki outboards? I've had no problems with my battery thus far, just wanting to avoid trouble if it's simple...
