  • Df140 high speed overheat- cyl head question.

This motor had a hole corroded into the oil pump galley so it pumped all the oil put into the exhaust water. The motor is a 05 I put an older black cyl head on the motor after I was told it would work. I don't know the year of the head but I know the block is gray and the head is black.

Is there a difference in the head that would cause overheat at high speed?

Did you have it serviced or at least cracked tested

I did not. I was told it was a good used head and couldn't find any reason it wasn't.

The question is has any one run an old head (01 and prior) on a newer 01 and up block? What was the cooling update they did?

If you go to the parts listing at the top of the forum page and look up the part number and click on the part scroll down and there is a list of all the engines it will be compatible with

Cyl head is compatible. We changed water pump impeller again no difference. Still over heats after a minute of running over 4800rpm. Tell tale is strong untill it randomly drops down then it quickly overheats 190+ degrees on an infrared temp gun.

          New pump
          New stat
          Compression is perfect
Pressure valve is clean and clear.

          Any help is appreciated.

I have not checked that but I will. What would that tell me?

I crossed the cyl head gasket with the one I put on and it did not match the head but it does match the block. The head is from a 115 but the only difference in the cyl head gasket from the 115 to the 140 seems to be the 2mm larger bore. All the cooling ports look identical.

              Thanks
