  • Outboard Mech in New Bern, NC?

I'm looking for a reliable Marine Mechanic in the New Bern, NC area. Anyone have anyone in mind who isn't over priced?

Two and a half years ago I topped off my tank with ethanol free gas expecting to be using it often. Then I got really busy working full time to pay the mortgage and utilities while supporting the wife and a baby along with going to school full time. Unfortunately that lasted until recently when I finally graduated. That means that same gas has been sitting in that tank for 2 and a half years. I originally treated it with star-tron, and did so again when the one year mark came up but I doubt that gas is still good now. I need someone to drain the 25 gallons, and while they're at it, change out the fuel lines. Aside from that I also need new bunks and I don't really have time to do it all. I've since gotten another job and am working a lot of overtime.

I had also done a fresh engine oil and lower unit oil change, but I'll do those again myself along with the water pump. Any one have any suggestions on where to take it around here to get it up and running again? I really want to get my wife and three year old on the water this summer.

Boat is a Sea Chaser 175 RG on a magic tilt trailer. Outboard is a 2007 Suzuki DF70 Four Stroke.

Any advice on the best way to drain it from a below deck tank?
