  • Check eng light & 1 beep - only when i hit rough water

I have a DF250. Runs fine, no errors when idling or when running at high speed in smooth water. Whenever I hit a "bump" (wave) I get a single beep and check eng light flashes once then error goes away. Only get beep/light when I have a wave. Of course, if the water is rough then the alarm is constantly beeping. Sounds like some liquid level sensor. Any ideas?

Have the ECU codes pulled to see what sensor id faulty.
most likely a false/weak/broken connection of a sensor.

...or your prop is coming out of the water and your hitting the rev limiter

Thanks for the input but the prop is definitely not coming out of water. Does anyone sell a code reader for these outboards?

You need to get the Suzuki Diagnostic System software plus cable, load onto laptop, configure and connect to the engine.

Some "copies" are available on ebay. If you search using the above words you will find. Theres another recent thread on here where someone bought one, a search will find it.

Or take it to the dealer and it will take 10 minutes to check the codes and diagnose.

Thanks for the info on the diagnostic software. The motor is a 2015 DF250 with 6 year warranty. However, boat is in the water with no easy access to a trailer and the nearest dealer is miles away. Maybe I can find a Mobel Suzuki mechanic.

Have you ounce checked all the electrical connections?
Check where the main power feed to your dash terminates and the connections that feed off that to the ignition switch

Sounds like a loose connection on a ground or supply, take your cowl off and run the motor, and start wiggling the wiring harness from the motor to your dash, if there is a loose connection you should be able to replicate it. Be careful with the engine running.
