  • 2014 DF140 Intermittent Engine Data

I need some help concerning the recent loss of engine data to my Garmin GPS and Suzuki C10 gauge. The issue seems to have begun after I had the ECM replaced due to a recall. The data interruption is random and will turn on and off without any pattern that I can tell so I'm wondering if I've got a loose connection or possible an issue with the engine data system(chip). What other things or test might I look for or do if the connections are clean and solid?

Thanks in advance for you assistance...

Losse connection or nearly broken wire on one of the plugs would be the first place to check. Start at the connection between the interface cable and the engine, and if you use an apater cable, check that. We do sometimes see plugs where the wires are loose on the interface cable and adapter cables, so a gentle wiggle of wires from the back of the plugs should hopefully find the culprit.

If a wire does come loose or is obviously so, you can remove the pins from the white plugs by lifting the tiny tab inside the housing from the front of the plug and push the pin out the back.

The other hardware item that can fail is a T piece, so try swapping the interface cable to a different T piece on the backbone.

Finally, if they replaced the ecu, check in the engine to make sure the connection between the harness and the ecu is plugged in properly and wires in those plugs are all good, this could well be the problem.
