  • 2015 DF140 check engine light comes on, clears with key off

I installed a pair of DF140s last year and during the shakedown cruise the check engine light came on one motor on and it beeps about every five seconds. Turn the key off and the check engine light is no longer lit. The motor runs great at idle and thru all RPMs.

Called the local Suzuki dealer and he was TOO busy to even check the code and recommended that I go to where I purchased the motors.

Just trying to avoid a stupid maintenance code before I pull the Cat and take her to the engine installer.

    Thanks for any assistance.

    check light

Are you sure its the check engine light and not the oil service reminder

Yes, I'm sure it's not the oil service light. I reset the oil service light after the 20 hour oil change for each motor and the motors only have 40 hours each. Thanks for the quick response.

        check light

If It's throwing an error code It will be in series , the check engine light will flash pause and flash again. If its 1 pause 1 it may be rectifier & regulator over charging

Today I drove the boat to a local marina and both engines had the check engine lights comes on. I cycled the key and they were gone. Motors are less than a year old with 40 hours. Is it just me or has anyone else had issues with new 140s?

Motors are under warranty - why not simply hand the problem over to Suzuki dealer and get it sorted? Its most likely an issue with installation and setup.

I've been waiting a week to get an appointment and took the boat to the dealer today. Boat ran great all last season and was professionally winterized so I don't know if it is an issue with the installation or setup, but doubtful.

I created this post to see if any other owners were having the same issues and compare symptoms and possible solutions.

So I got a call from the dealer. They took the boat out and got the starboard engine CEL to come on. It was an O2 sensor. They took the boat back to the dock, cleaned the 02 sensor connectors of both motors and tried to repeat failure. CEL did not come on after 2 runs.

Since there was no failure, they charged me $139 per engine for a diagnosis that is not covered by the warranty as nothing was broken.

Picked up boat today, paid fees $278 plus tax and the CEL came on 100 yards from the dealer and cleared on their own with the still engine running. Went back to dealer, mechanic came out, hooked up the laptop and we went for a ride and got CEL to come on again, with "same code as before". Maybe this time the dealer will fix it correctly.

Other than the CEL, both motors both ran perfectly with no hesitations or other issues.

                SIGNED, NOT HAPPY!!!!

Suzuki Technical Service Bulletin for 02 sensor on 2015 df140?

The dealer called today and told me that Suzuki issued a Technical Service Bulletin for the 02 sensor issue I'm having on my 2015 DF140. Can any mechanic verify this TSB has been released?

                  Thanks.
