I bought an 1998 DT 225 and mounted it, pulled the wiring harness, and then took it to the local Suzuki dealer to connect the wiring and gauges. The man I bought it from said he was having an overheating problem. Sure enough, when I ran it the first time the water light came on and the limiter kicked in. I had my son with me, so while the motor was running we pulled the cover off the motor to see if it was hot. I could hold my hand on both banks. I went back to the dealer and got a new water pump and installed it. I also got the sensor and the resistor kit for the over heating problem. Here is where I went from that. Back on the water with the new installs, the new sensor makes the horn beep constantly. So I unhooked it and put the old one back on, and that quit. Water pump works great. Good stream and heads are cooler than before. I did put the resistor in, but it made no difference. Here is how the motor runs. I can take off and get up to about 3000 rpm and the water light comes on then the limiter starts kicking in and out. I can sometimes slap the throttle all the way and it will take off, kicking in and out of limiting and running. I would like to know if it is probably the CDI. If it is, it does not match the one listed in several parts sites. Mine is one big black box. Thanks for looking
