Moonlighter,
Being as you seem to be the resident expert with the nema 2K hook ups for Suzuki's hopefully you can provide a little help . I have a 2019 Suzuki 250 with a axiom 9 rvx the boat is a 2007 Triton 240 LTS. The gages are all older analog gages and most are not working in stead of replacing them i am going to add second screen but want to make sure it will work first
with the screen I already have I see where many people have had issue with this so I want to try to insure that i get the right Interface cable to start with the one I ordered is the 990C0-88149-357. Any help is greatly appreciated . Of i forgot to mention that the boat already has a nema network with fuel flow sensor installed . Is there anything else that i need to do besides connect the Interface and set up the boat info and screen ?
Thanks in Advance

I would highly recommend that your new screen be a Lowrance HDS or Elite Ti2 or FS, or a Simrad NSS evo3, evo 3S or GO series. It just depends on your other needs as to which of these models suits you best.
The reason for this recommendation is that Suzuki has a special interface cable called the Connect cable for Navico displays. By using that cable, you will get all engine data plus fault codes and service reminders on the Lowrance or Simrad displays, in fact, this cable will activate custom Suzuki gauge screens on those displays too. You can then totally remove the old analogue gauges.
This is the Connect interface cable:
https://www.brownspoint.com/store/pc/Engine-Connect-Gateway-405p76777.htm
If you go this way you will remove the analogue gauges, and use the 4 pin plug that the tacho was connected to to plug the Connect Interface cable into. The other end goes into a new T on your NMEA2000 network. And the 2 pin that the trim gauge was connected to is used for the 2 pin plug on the Connect cable.
Then at the engine end you will swap the harness connection from its current plug across to the SDS plug on the engine. This sends digital data to the dash for the interface to use.
The version 3.5.7 cable you may have ordered will give you engine data but not the fault codes or service reminders. Its unwise to run without access to those codes for many reasons, the least of which is that they help you to solve any problems that might happen, worse case is that by not seeing a code you continue to run the engine and do more damage.
When you have it set up you should also remove the fuel flow sensor. The engine ecu provides far more accurate fuel flow data to the network and there may be conflicts from using the same network data identifier (pgn).

Moonlighter,
thanks for you quick response. I did order the cable already and the axiom was in the boat when I bought it . Since it such a new unit would it be better just to install a C-10 or one of the other digital gauges and just use the axiom unit for what it’s made for ? And would I use the Cable I order for this or would I still need the cable you recommended no mater what ? Thanks again

You have to make up you mind what you want to do.
I replied based on your stated plan to get an additional MFD and get rid of the analogue gauges.
All I can do is to inform you of the facts.
Facts:
- I have no idea if the Axiom model you have can show engine data or not, you will have to find that out yourself.
- But what I can tell you 100% is that it cannot configure the Suzuki interface cable (which has to be done after its all connected up) and it cannot calibrate fuel flow to fine tune accuracy. So as a standalone replacement for the analogue gauges in combo with the V3.5.7 interface, it doesnt cut the mustard.
- if you want to get rid of the old analogue gauges and use a extra MFD for all engine data, then I have already given you my recommendations and the reasons behind them.
- you could of course stay with the Axiom as your sole MFD and get a C-10 to use in combo with the V3.5.7 interface cable. You will probably want to add the Axiom to the NMEA2000 network that is needed for the C-10 so that C-10 receives GPS data from it and can then do mpg and distance to empty etc. The C-10 will show all the fault and service codes so its got everything covered.
- and to round the options off, instead of the C-10 and V3.5.7 interface setup, you could use the Suzuki SMG4 digital gauge. It doesnt use an interface cable, it talks direct to the engine. You would get a SMG4 gauge kit that includes the relevant adapter harness for your engine. Plug it in, configure it, and away you go.
