  • Suzuki DF 2.5 propeller

Good Morning. I recently purchased a DF2.5 2017. While inspecting the propeller, I noticed there is NO sheer pin in the event of hitting an object BUT a propeller with a copper/brass insert with a spline system built in. WTH is that all about? EVERY small outboard engine I have ever owned has a 3$ sheer pin that I would replace instead of replacing a $75 propeller. My local dealer has no idea if the copper/brass insert is replaceable or if the whole prop needs to be replaced. If the propeller need replacement, SUZUKI, you dropped the ball here. Please advise? Newer outboard often don't have a sheer pin but mostly a rubber hub that is pressed inside the prop. Replacement of the hub will cost you the same or more then a new prop.

***! What the hell is that? Anyone who fishes in any small river system knows the value of carrying a few extra sheer pins in the event of a grounding. How forgiving is this rubber insert? I would hate to have to carry a couple of spare props at $50 each.

No point continuing this discussion, as you no longer have this engine.
