  • 89 D150 Super Six choke

    Ok,
Every outboard I've owned has had a mechanical choke. I bought a bass boat last year that was repowered with a 1989 Suzuki DT150 SS. The spot on the dash where the choke plunger for the old motor was is now empty.
So onto my question, sorry, is this motor supposed to have a mechanical choke?
    Any help is appreciated

I'm not sure if you have carbs, or fuel injection system? If fuel injected, you do not have a choke. If carbs, then you may still have a choke system? It may be part of the key switch (pressing key in when starting engages choke for models with that feature).

    Good luck, post us back.

      Thank you Solarman!
Motor is carbureted. Key does depress. Also, I hear a clicking sound when I epress the key. Would that be the choke?

If hearing the click, then you're hearing the solenoid activate your choke when you press the key in.

Good luck. Post back if need.
