I have a 2010 DF250 that I sometimes have to put the hand throttle in a certain spot (which is not exactly the normal neutral spot) to allow engine to start. The throttle is the OPT:TOP MOUNT SINGLE (2) and I have taken it apart to examine the switch. It appears alright, and it does work, but as I said it needs just a little repositioning to allow engine to start, and sometimes out on the ocean you don't have the time to be trying to find that happy spot for starting. So my questions are is there adjustment? If I were to unplug switch would it start in any position even in gear? (Just in the event I can't find happy spot for starting) Or even though the switch is working when I get the throttle in the right spot it just needs to be replaced?

Mate there are two switches, one in the binnacle and one on your motor. The easiest way to check the switches when you have a starting problem, is when the engine wont crank, get someone to hold the key in the start position and with the cowling off check with a test light that you have battery voltage on both sides of your neutral switch on the shifter, on the engine, brown wire and yellow and green. If you do not have voltage on the brown wire your problem is between the ignition switch and the binnacle neutral switch and the second neutral switch, if you have voltage on the brown wire the circuit between the ignition switch and the second neutral switch is fine. I think your problem is a simple adjustment on the switch at the engine. If you have voltage on both sides of the switch and the engine wont crank, post it up and I will tell you how to check between the switch, starter relay, ecu, and starter motor, but I am confident it will be at the neutral switch on the motor. -
