    Hi All

I have a 2012 DF150 and an HDS 8 Gen II. I ordered a 99OCO-88149 Interface and a 99OCO-88136 Adapter from a well-known American supplier. The parts arrived this morning and I spent the day trying to make it work.

Managed to get RPM, hours, and voltage but nothing else. The first issue was that in trying to configure the engine on the sounder, the box that asked for the year model worked but not the one that then asked for the model. I tried numerous times but that dialog box just wasn't working.

Secondly, at the end of the day, I noticed in the fine print on the adapter cable that they had sent me 99OCO-88135, not 99OCO-88136 as ordered. Searching the forums revealed that 99OCO-88135 was superseded in 2011. That said, it has a label on it saying that it has V 3.5 of the software

Also, the SDS plug on the engine has four wires, the engine interface has four wires but 99OCO-88135 adapter has only three.

I contacted the seller who advised me I should have paid the $40 and got them to do a 'custom programme' on the interface. From reading a lot of threads here, it seems the problem might be that the 3.5 software might not n=be compatible with a 2012 engine and that maybe I need to get the 2.9 software on the interface.

    Any info much appreciated.

    Regards,
    El Barco

Did you review the "sticky" thread above--second from the top - NEMA 2000 Networks..

Moonlighter did a great job on the information

Yes, I read it beginning to end and he did an excellent job indeed.

But I can't find the solution to the specific issue of the interface only partially talking to the sounder but that thread leads me to think that the issue is the 3.5 software that's come on the interface I've bought.

I'm just looking for some confirmation of that. If it turns out to be the issue, I'll re-programme the interface to 2.9

      Cheers

Coming together - downgraded the software on the interface, all seems to be working now. Will test on the water tomorrow

                Hi there El Barco!

I just got back from a fishing trip in Moreton Bay Qld, and have spent the last couple of hours filleting a bunch of whiting and cleaning about 25 nice squid. Fresh seafood for Good Friday! Mmm i like calamari!

                Just saw your post.

Yes, 2.9 should sort you out. If you are now seeing all engine data i think youll be fine.

Dont worry about the 4 or 3 wires, only 3 are needed to get the data from the interface. Pos, neg and data.

I should update that paper sometime soon to reflect that change!

                Happy Easter all!

Thanks Moonlighter, pleased you had a great trip and the feed of whiting sounds fantastic. Caught three kingfish yesterday, a first for me after 39 years in Tasmania. Another sign of changing times - they've been about here in good numbers the last month.

All sorted now but wouldn't have happened without the major NMEA thread you wrote and a few short comments here and there. Downgrading the software, and working out how to do so, were the keys.

Wiring the thing through the outboard loom to keep the whole affair tidy took some doing but it was worth it.

Does anyone know the temperature at which the DF150 thermostat opens?

Those YTK's pull hard! We get them up here in Qld but they often have a micro parasite that turns their flesh mushy so generally we let them go. Apparently its only an issue in subtropical water temps.

                    Not sure about the thermostat.

My DF115 runs, according to the engine data displayed on the network, at around 72 deg C at a fast cruise speed, if that is any help.

Enjoy yourself in Tassie, plenty of opportunities for good fishing there! I want to get down that way sometime in the next couple of years to have a proper look around. Only been there once some years ago fior a quick business trip.

Look me up if you do!

Got things talking to each other, after a fashion. Revs and amps are right, temp seems on the low side, hovering around 55-57, fuel miles out, which was really the purpose of the whole exercise.

Will search through the post for how to fix this

Ok, now that i look again at your original post, i see that your motor is a 2012 model.

Interface software version 2.9.0 SHOULD play nicely with engine year 2012. Should!

When you say that fuel is miles out, exactly what data are you getting?

If it is, like 5 times the fuel rate it should be, then I would recommend another software change for the interface: Version 2.5.0 should sort the problem out. You can find a link to a copy to download on my NMEA sticky thread at the top of the forum.
