  • Dt 150 water tube

hi,getting boat ready for season so changed impeller and gear oil.
after change engine not pumping water.when hose run through cylinder head pees out no problem.took off leg and put hose onto water tube.
water coming down from exhaust port nothing going up to head.
so thought there must be bad connection at top bush.
was told that water tube can be pulled down and out,but had grips on tube and it wont come down.i can get it to turn around but no downward movement.
what I hope to know is- can the tube indeed come out and how.
the tube is so crushed and torn where I have been yanking at it that I have no choice but to get it out.
    please help.any advice appreciated.thanks.

    What year is the motor.
If you look at the parts break down is there a small bolt that holds the tube in place?

    Post back, good luck.

motor is 98,have ordered all tube bushes and grommets from brownspoint, cant see any holding bolts on their diagram and two manuals I have don't show water tube detail.nothing on youtube either.
if I look up exhaust shaft I can see two 6mm bolt heads and one slotted screw at top,but don't see how these could be part of tube system.
cant see anything like bolts or screws around bottom unless they are hidden somewhere.
will keep looking for more diagrams.

I didn't see any fastners in parts list. More than likely a sealant was used on the bushing at the upper end. If not pulling out, maybe it was sealed better than normal? That tube might have been good before? It is possible the aluminum webbing that separates the exhaust and water chamber under the powerhead has deteriorated and is causing your problem. But you would have to replace the tube now, or repair it to find out.

Post back when able. Good luck.

          water tube not coming out

the engine pumped water fine before I replaced impeller,so don't think plates deteriorated.think top seal gone.maybe disturbed when took off leg.
tried digging around bottom of pipe to free up.copper tube will spin no problem but will still not come down.
I am beginning to think power head has to be removed to get tube out,i would love it if someone would tell me this is not the case, but just don't know.
have spent hours on net trying to find answer but found nothing.
have found lots of posts with same problem but no answers.
need some info on tube removal.

Maybe you can get a couple pics up close, inside the midsection to see if you can tell what's holding it? I'll do a little more research too. Post your pics here.

            Good luck.

              water tube answered

as I had ordered new parts from browns point I thought I would email them just to see if they new how the water tube is removed.
got an answer, but not the one I was looking for!power head has to be removed to access tube and bushings.
what was a small job has just got bigger.
will take pics when I strip down just to show parts.
