  • Factory KILL SWITCH

    2003 Suzuki 150.
My factory "kill switch" is internally gummed up & does not work properly. Looking at generic replacements, I see "2 common & 2 magneto" connections. My factory dashboard kill switch has 2 wires. Green, and black. . Can someone tell me what type of kill switch I should use. Thanks for the help. Bill

    (Standard or Magneto kill switch)

You may not have received a reply because you have lost me on a "dashboard" kill switch
Maybe someone else has this type of kill switch
The only one I am familar with is built into the ignition switch
Maybe instead of replacing the switch, have you tried a spray can of electrical contact cleaner? Comes much like a can of WD40

I gather from what you're saying, that the generic switch you're considering has terminals for four wires, two of which say "common," and the other two say "magneto." The kill switch from the factory grounds a terminal on the ECM, same as the ignition switch would do when turned off. So the green wire on the factory kill switch comes off the ignition switch, and your black wire goes to ground on the engine. I would say, pay no attention to the marking on the generic, just use an ohmmeter and find one pair of wires that have continuity when the switch is in its "kill engine" state (lanyard pulled), make sure that there is NO continuity on those terminals with the lanyard in place, and connect your black and green wires to those terminals. Doesn't matter which is black and which is green. Ignore the two unused terminals.
