  • 2010 df 9.9 carb jet to 15 hp

From what I see on the df 9.9 and df15 there are only a couple parts that differ. Can I or is it recommended to switch out these parts to make my 9.9 into a 15 . Specs for the 2 engines are almost identical even props the only diff I see are main jets and pilots and there operating range of rpm(I'm figuring cuz 15 has bigger jets higher rpm). For under $50 I can have a 15hp?????

If it was that easy, nobody would have bought the DF15, would they?

Here in Canada any boat haveing over 10 hp must be registered with Canada customs/ coast guard. That being the case the 9.9 was to avoid that.Hence 9.9 probably top selling"portable " outboard for that reason.Friend of mine has a 9.9 Yamaha cowl on a 15 for his zodiac why?, to avoid customs registration etc. His motor is a 2002 only diff between 9.9 and 15 is the carb. Like I said looking at Suzuki 9.9 and 15 motors schematics only diff is the carb. When looking at carb schematics only diff is the jetting in fact owners manual(as vague as it may be) is meant for df9.9,df9.9a and df15 as stated on cover.Would it not make sense in the manufacturing to have 2 identical motors simply slightly change jetting in 1 carb and be able to have 2 different hp motors to sell? Thanks for your input

Additionally I'm pretty sure both main nozzle and pilot can be changed without removeing carb with 2 diff screwdrivers approx same time as write these posts
